The reason persons with genotype AA are more prone to contracting malaria

Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and is transmitted through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. While the disease can affect anyone, those with the AA genotype are more susceptible to contracting malaria than those with other genotypes.

The reason is not far-fetched. This is due to a genetic mutation that affects the production of red blood cells. This mutation causes the cells to become rigid and sticky, making it easier for the Plasmodium parasites to invade and reproduce inside them.

Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. When people with the AA genotype are infected with malaria, their red blood cells are unable to protect themselves against the free radicals produced by the parasite. This leads to the destruction of the red blood cells, a condition known as hemolysis. Hemolysis can cause anemia, jaundice, and other health problems.

Individuals with other genotypes, such as AS or SS, however, produce normal hemoglobin molecules, which makes it more difficult for the invasion of their red blood cells by the parasites.

It is also important to note that not all persons with the AA genotype will develop malaria if they are exposed to the Plasmodium parasite. Other factors, such as the immune system, can also play a role in whether or not a person develops the disease. But the fact that persons with the AA genotypes are more prone to malaria does not mean there’s an AA sickness.

As earlier stated, the immune system plays a big role in the susceptibility to Malaria. It is advised to constantly boost immunity irrespective of the genotype. Eating healthy, Regular exercise, Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Maintaining good hygiene, and taking RIDA HERBAL BITTERS are the best tips for boosting the immune system and being less prone to Malaria. Using insect repellent, and sleeping under mosquito nets, are also ways to avoid Malaria.

In conclusion, understanding the genetic factors that contribute to malaria susceptibility can help inform strategies for the prevention and treatment of the disease.
